Several years ago  I saw a church sign asking, “What’s better than Thanksgiving?”  The response was “Thanksliving.”  As I pondered this,  my thoughts rested on 2 passages of scripture.  The first one is found in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18  “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”   God’s will for us includes thanksgiving, and when practiced, lives are enriched and made much better!  Bitterness can’t find a place within our lives when we follow this simple truth.  A daily life of thankfulness is key to contentment and happiness, and could be called thanksliving!

The second scripture is found in  Psalms 100:4,  “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.”   Gates represent authority, so for us to properly enter God’s presence, thanksgiving is required.  As we follow the prayer pattern Jesus taught, thanksgiving is automatic.  “Our Father which art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name”.........this prayer introduction brings thanksgiving joyfully to our lips as we realize and proclaim the awesome promises which belong to us because of His majesty!

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday tradition which as believers we should celebrate everyday. Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
