Genesis 8:1 is interesting, as you read …….. “And God remembered Noah and all the animals and livestock that were with him, and He sent a wind upon the Earth.” Let me draw your attention to the word, “remembered’. In this particular verse. It doesn’t mean the opposite of “forgetting”. No, God never forgot that the ark was built and stocked by his faithful servant, Noah, and that the floodgates had opened, filling the Earth with water, and that the only place for safety of life was on that ark. But the Bible says, “God remembered Noah.” The Message translation says, “Then God turned his attention to Noah and all the wild animals and farm animals with him on the ship.”
The Hebrew word for “remembered,” actually means “marked.” That’s not a casual, oh, I just remembered something......it’s something incredibly designated and significantly marked by God as His own. You and I are also “marked” by God, according to Ephesians 1:13....(NIV) “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,” (NLT) “And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.” (Douay Reims)
In whom you also, after you had heard the word of truth, (the gospel of your salvation;) in whom also believing, you were signed with the holy Spirit of promise.”
Sometimes we may feel forgotten by God, but the truth is, He is very mindful of us and always has his hand on us. Just as an artist always marks his masterpiece, we’ve been marked by our Heavenly Father as His very own! I hope 2020 will be your best year yet as you remind yourself that you are valued by God as His very own, “one of a kind”, treasure!
