My favorite “Christmas Story” is found in the first book of John. Not only is it my favorite, but it is also the shortest. Here’s how it goes, John 1:14, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” Some translations use “Christ” instead of the “Word,” and when studied you will find the literal translation is “the Word.” Dig a little deeper and you will see this simply means Jesus Christ, the wisdom and power of God and the first cause of all things; God’s personal expression of himself to men.
Imagine, God’s personal expression of himself to you is the Word, or Christ. God came to this Earth and personally revealed himself in the person of Jesus so that mankind could be delivered from the power of darkness and walk in the Light! No wonder we sing, “Joy to the World, the Lord is come.”
The celebration of Christmas is a daily occurrence in our lives as believers, so let us go forward from this precious season with joy for each day ahead making the most of every opportunity to impart this life to others. A new year is in sight, and let’s embrace it with eagerness as we let our lights shine for Jesus, the living Word
